Community Outreach Meetings

Community Outreach Meetings are open to the public and are held every 2nd Tuesday of the month, 6-7 pm at Hargraves Community Center: 216 N. Roberson Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.

The goal of these meetings is to arm residents with knowledge and engage them in decision making that impacts their lives on a daily basis. Residents, the Town of Chapel Hill Police Department, other Town agencies, landlords, developers, and concerned citizens come together to discuss issues and ideas. It empowers neighbors to use their collective voice against crime and gentrification, organizes Community Watch groups, and promotes neighborhood advocacy to influence local government to support positive change in our communities.

Good Neighbor Initiative & Neighborhood Night Out

Good Neighbor Initiative Logo

The Good Neighbor Initiative is a joint effort to encourage fellowship between university students and permanent residents of our communities. It encourages neighbors to work together and build community to keep neighborhoods clean and safe.

Every year there is a block party held at Hargraves Community Center called Neighborhood Night Out that is kicked off with a neighborhood walk. Students, permanent residents, university officials, and other members of the town walk together to welcome new and returning students while providing useful information to all about what it means to be a good neighbor. This seeks to bridge the gaps between our communities’ diverse subcultures.
